Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you find yourself waking up and worrying about whether you overshared with a friend or family member — and you’re curious about why that loop happens and how to step out of it — that’s a meaningful sign. Therapy is a space to understand yourself more deeply and to learn how to quiet the overthinking.

What should I expect during my first session?

An easy, grounded conversation about the basics of your life and how you arrived at this place of feeling stuck. I don’t believe in pushing you to relive past experiences before you’re ready and comfortable — we move at your pace, always.

How do I choose the right therapist?

Trust the feeling of connection. The right fit means you sense that I understand you — that I can meet you where you are and genuinely support your beliefs and path toward healing. If that resonance is there, we’re in a good place to begin.

How long does therapy usually take?

I see myself as a steady support system. We typically meet weekly or biweekly until shifts in thought patterns and behaviors begin to emerge. My goal — much like my doula work — is to guide you from survival mode toward monthly check-ins. I also believe that once a client, always a client: life events and finances shape our capacity to grow, so I’m always open to pausing and reconnecting when the next chapter calls for it.

How often should I come to therapy?

This is a self-determined choice — a reflection of how you want to care for yourself right now. There’s no single right answer, and it shifts with your work-life balance, your energy, and what life is asking of you at any given time.

Is therapy confidential?

Absolutely. What is said here stays here. Consider me your personal vault — I hold your confidence and confidentiality as a non-negotiable part of the work we do together.

Can therapy help with anxiety, stress, or burnout?

Yes. Behavioral change and genuine self-care become possible when you create space to prioritize your own growth and healing. Therapy helps you build that space — and learn how to hold it, even when life gets loud.

What if I don't know what to talk about?

It’s a little bit of magic, honestly. Once we’re in the session together, thoughts and challenges have a way of rising to the surface. We always find a thread — something worth exploring or supporting you through, whether it’s a current struggle or the next chapter ahead.

Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?

Not at all. As a clinician, I work to apply the least defining diagnosis possible for billing and administrative purposes, or I work alongside any existing diagnosis you carry. You are not defined by a label — you are defined by the areas of your life you want to understand better and move through with more ease.

How do I know therapy is working?

Life begins to feel lighter and more navigable. You start to enjoy it more. You find clarity about your next steps. The noise quiets, and you begin to trust yourself again — that’s how you know.
