I am Dr. Katherine Hyde Hensley a Perinatal Psychologist, Birth Trauma Coach and Stillbirth Mom. I am a survivor and advocate for grieving families and parents seeking guidance for Stillbirth, Infant Death and Termination or Medical Reasons (TFMR). Motherhood is a complex journey best navigated with trust, education, and emotional support. I offer private pay in person therapy, teletherapy and online coaching to clients across the U.S. I am based in Asheville, N.C. and licensed with most major insurance providers in North Carolina. Together I will help you discover your true self and help you define your voice.
Life’s challenges can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when navigating the complexities of loss, grief, and difficult decisions. Seeking support is a courageous step toward healing and growth. I prioritize providing a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. We’ll explore your goals, uncover your strengths, address obstacles, and collaboratively develop practical solutions. I aim to empower you to take meaningful steps toward living authentically, processing complex emotions, and building a fulfilling life.
With over 20 years of experience in birth, death, and parenting, I specialize in TFMR therapy and TFMR grief support, offering compassionate care to individuals and families coping with the emotional aftermath of termination for medical reasons. Whether you’re navigating healing after TFMR, pregnancy loss counseling, or making difficult pregnancy decisions, I am here to provide the support and tools you need to process your experiences and move forward.
As a skilled perinatal psychologist and group facilitator, I provide personalized support to bereaved parents from the earliest moments of loss through subsequent pregnancies, if desired. My approach focuses on minimizing regrets, creating meaningful memories, and fostering healing rituals. Families receive care tailored to their needs—in person, by phone, or via email—and benefit from collaboration with medical and community professionals, including Loss Doulas trained to teach, advocate, and support during challenging times.
I take an integrative approach, drawing on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Resilient Grieving, and Attachment Theory. My work helps families uncover strengths, build resilience, and find healing. I also provide direct feedback and tailored coping strategies to help clients manage grief, balance parenting with loss, and address challenges related to postpartum transitions and birth trauma.
Through our work, you’ll gain deeper insight into yourself and your relationships while discovering tools to navigate your unique journey with renewed strength and acceptance. My goal is to help you honor your baby, process your emotions, and move forward with peace and confidence.
I hold a B.S. in Public Health, an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University, and a PsyD in Behavioral Health Leadership. My clinical training includes an APA-accredited internship at the Burrell Child Crisis Center, where I specialized in trauma-related disorders. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with organizations like the Star Legacy Foundation, March of Dimes, and Circle of Security Attachment parenting to support families navigating life after infant loss.
My expertise includes grief support, pregnancy loss therapy, TFMR, Birth trauma coaching and navigating the emotional aftermath of infant loss. I also work with clients facing challenges such as birth trauma, perinatal mental health, anxiety, depression, trauma, complex PTSD, and attachment concerns. My compassionate, evidence-based approach fosters growth, uncovers resilience, and guides families to rediscover hope and joy amid life’s challenges.
Whether seeking healing after TFMR, navigating grief, or rebuilding after loss, I am here to support you on your journey toward peace, meaning, and fulfillment.
